Field Day 2012

Dave's been at the Benicia Fire Museum all day.  We're going to visit my parents later during their shift.

USS Iowa BB-61

Where has Salty Dave been hiding out?   He spends all of his time with a rather large lady (this absolutely
does not describe my mother) - the USS Iowa BB-61!  He is a volunteer for the rehabilitation and thinks
about nothing else.  We give him a wide berth (snicker) these days.

Would you like to visit the Iowa in Richmond, CA?  Here is the link to the Pacific Battleship Center, the
non-profit organization rehabbing the Iowa: http://www.pacificbattleship.com/page/richmond.  Can't
make it to Richmond? Check out the gift shop: http://www.pacificbattleship.com/page/store.  Shirts,
hats, posters...heck, even pieces of the deck.

Dave wasn't able to curb his enthusiasm long enough to document his volunteer adventures.  Luckily, a
man that goes by the YouTube user name "PRThatRocks" did it for him.  He has a lovely educational
video series showing his time renovating the Iowa.  Will he show us the bathtub?

Part 1     Part 2      Part 3     Part 4     Part 5
Part 6     Part 7      Part 8      Part 11     Part 12
Part 13     Part 14      Part 15      Part 16

Perhaps the next post will be of my dad's Iowa tattoo!   Just kidding, Mom wouldn't allow that.

Amateur Radio Custom Award Plaques

Ham I Am Callsigns makes custom award plaques.  We usually make awards
for clubs, but this is also a great idea for individuals.  "World's Greatest Ham,"
"World's Prettiest Amateur Radio Operator," etc.

These plaques are cut, routered, sanded, lacquered and laser etched by Dave.
The plaques shown are cherry, but we can use any type of wood you wish.
We can also custom stain or paint your plaques.

Does your club award use metal name plates?  Not a problem.  Whether you
have a design and a plan, or no idea at all what your award should say, send
Dave an email at Mr.LaserDave@gmail.com

Here is the unlacquered plaque in the ole' laser machine.

The above is a true statement.  We make the plaques, we don't just etch them.
You aren't stuck with any certain size or shape.  I think you could talk Dave
into cutting the plaque into a shape.  It might require a lot of talking.

We'd grow the trees if we could.  Give the one in my backyard another 20 years
or so - then we'll get you an absolutely custom plaque.

Happy Holidays,

Rhonda

Personalized Name Plates

Mr. Laser Dave (my dad) made personalized desk plates for us.  Benicia
Cabinetry (my dad) also made us gorgeous desks.

John would tell you that the name plates are unnecessary  - the clean desk
is his, the desk with piles of paper belongs to me.

Mr. Laser Dave also made a desk plate for my sister Kim.  I think he forgot
to give it to her.  This proves that he loves me more.

I believe that the name plates are $10 (plus shipping, unless you live near
Benicia).  The plates are custom made, lacquered and etched by Dave.  Send
an email to Mr.LaserDave@gmail.com if you are interested.

Earth friendly ham...just in time for Christmas!

Do you love the earth and amateur radio?  Are you a ham saving the planet
one small step at a time?  We've got the perfect gift for the green ham shack!

Our new custom callsign desk plaque is made with bamboo plywood.

The bamboo plywood is made with a rapidly renewable bamboo and has
no added urea formaldehyde.

Pretty and smart!

Would you like to put one of these beauties under your recycled materials
tree?  Send me an email at Mr.LaserDave@gmail.com.
